Providing comprehensive protection and response services for Gender-Based Violence survivors and Children in conflict-affected regions.
GEPaDC implements protection interventions under the project “Delivering a Comprehensive Package of Life-Saving Health-Based Services to Conflict-Affected Populations in Borno State” in partnership with International Medical Corps (IMC), Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and Médecins du Monde (MdM).
The organisation leads Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection services across Askira Uba, Damboa, and Gwoza LGAs, providing case management, survivor referral pathways, community sensitisation, and psychosocial support.
GEPaDC also implemented the UN Women–supported project “Building Leadership Capacity of IDP Women for Effective COVID-19 and GBV Response”, strengthening women’s leadership and community protection structures in Farm Centre, Dalori, and Teachers Village IDP camps.
Through the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) Project, implemented since November 2025, GEPaDC is reducing protection risks among vulnerable populations in Bama and Ngala LGAs of Borno State. The project provides GBV case management, psychosocial support,, and life skills sessions for women and girls through Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), while Child Friendly Safe Spaces (CFS) offer case management, psychosocial support, and life skills activities for children affected by abuse, exploitation, child labour, child marriage, and other protection risks. The project also strengthens community protection systems through awareness campaigns, positive parenting sessions, and training on disability inclusion for frontline staff. Vulnerable women, girls, and children in displacement-affected communities now have safer access to protection services, improved psychosocial wellbeing, and stronger community support systems to prevent and respond to GBV and child protection risks.
Impact: Strengthened survivor-centred protection systems and increased community awareness on GBV prevention.
Promoting Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) through advocacy and community engagement for social cohesion.
GEPaDC actively advances the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in Nigeria. The organisation contributed to the development of the Borno State Action Plan (BoSAP) on UNSCR 1325 in partnership with the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme and the British Council.
In collaboration with WANEP Nigeria, GEPaDC facilitated training workshops that led to the creation of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Action Plan for implementing the WPS agenda.
Impact: Strengthened women’s participation in peacebuilding and improved gender-responsive governance frameworks.
Increasing access to quality education for girls and promoting educational rights in marginalized communities.
GEPaDC implements education programmes that expand access to safe and inclusive learning for conflict-affected children. Through projects funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and implemented with Save the Children, the organisation supports Alternative Education Programmes (AEP), teacher training, school rehabilitation, and distribution of learning materials.
Adolescents above 17 years are also enrolled in vocational mentorship programmes where they receive six months of apprenticeship training in practical trades including tailoring, bead-making, hairdressing, cake baking, and cap making.
Impact: Increased school enrolment for out-of-school children and improved economic opportunities for vulnerable adolescents.
Socio-economic empowerment initiatives to help women achieve financial independence and stability.
Since 2017, GEPaDC has implemented livelihoods programmes using the Family Business Scheme (FBS) model developed by Street Child UK, combining cash grants, entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and structured savings groups.
Through the Right to Care Projects (2017–2020), more than 2,000 beneficiaries received business and asset-creation support while over 70 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) were established.
Skills programmes trained hundreds of adolescent girls and women in soap production, tailoring, hairdressing, cake baking, bead making, and briquette production for sustainable domestic energy.
Impact: Increased household income, strengthened women’s financial independence, and promoted climate-friendly livelihood solutions.
The term WASH is used as shorthand for a vast array of infrastructure, behavioural and policy interventions implemented to increase the access to and use of water supply and sanitation services.
GEPaDC has implemented several community-based health programmes aimed at improving access to essential health services and information in conflict-affected communities.
In partnership with UNFPA, the organisation expanded Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in Gubio and Kaga LGAs, reaching 10 communities with maternal health education, nutrition awareness, and HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives.
Additional programmes supported by the World Bank and NACA focused on HIV prevention among students, while COVID-19 awareness campaigns funded by ECW, Global Fund for Women, and Mission Inclusion reached vulnerable communities across Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
